I started my teaching career in 2000 at Meigs North Elementary in Decatur, TN. I taught 5th grade for 9 years and Title I Reading Intervention for 2 years. I thoroughly enjoyed my years at Meigs North but decided to transfer to Roane County when the opportunity to teach in my home community opened at Midway Middle in 2011. During my 10 years at Midway Middle, I have taught 6th and 7th grade ELA.
I enjoy spending time with my family. We are all sports nuts. You will often see us out and about supporting our biological daughter as well as my "adopted children" (my students/former students). We are also very active in our church and enjoy working with the youth.
My goal is to collaborate with classroom teachers, students, and parents to create an environment in the classroom and school that fosters a life-long love for learning.
I feel that my biggest asset is my desire to help others. I believe in going above and beyond my job description to help my coworkers, my students, my community, and others in need. I take pride in my school and strive to create opportunities to better our students and our relationship with our community.
