CELL PHONES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Anything not needed for class should be left at home. Any student may possess a cell phone while on school property during the regular school day. The cell phone must be in the off mode and kept in the student’s locker at all times. Students are never allowed to have cell phones on their person. The first violation will result in the phone being confiscated and a warning given. The parent/guardian must pick up the phone. The second violation will result in the student being suspended from school for a minimum of two days and the phone being forfeited to administration. Please refer to the 2017-2018 Roane County Schools’ Student Code of Conduct pamphlet for additional information. Cameras, radios, recorders, electronic games, pagers, IPods, MP3s, CD’s and CD players, etc. are also not allowed to be on the student’s person and must be kept in lockers. These items should never be visible or used during the school day. If brought to school and utilized improperly, these items will be forfeited to administration. THIS INCLUDES THE CAR PICK UP AREA AND BUS LOADING AREA! School personnel try to prevent losses, but they are not responsible for private property. Large amounts of money or valuables should not be brought to school. Buying, selling or trading ANY items is prohibited.

*PLEASE BE AWARE THAT MIDWAY HIGH SCHOOL AND CHEROKEE MIDDLE SCHOOL WILL BE UNDER A DIFFERENT CELL PHONE POLICY.

Students at these schools will have unlimited access to their cell phones during the school day.  MIDWAY MIDDLE SCHOOL WILL STILL FOLLOW THE STRICT GUIDELINES CONCERNING CELL PHONES AS OUTLINED IN THE ROANE COUNTY SCHOOLS’ CODE OF CONDUCT PAMPHLET. OUR POLICY HAS NOT CHANGED.
